Yammer Dan Posted July 29, 2008 #1 Posted July 29, 2008 Got a chance to hear some Jardines purr on a 1st Gen today. Is there a sweeter sounding pipe for a 1st Gen?? I haven't heard any. And Brickstones on anything just plain SUCK!!!
Yammer Dan Posted July 29, 2008 Author #2 Posted July 29, 2008 Will those Brickstones probally last forever??
GigaWhiskey Posted July 29, 2008 #3 Posted July 29, 2008 There are three pipes that I would like to hear on a 1st gen - Kerker K1 and K2 (Will never happen) and Yoshimura 4-1 (prolly will never happen either). Yea, old school I know. The best sounding bikes I have ever heard (4 cycle) is a CB750 K1-k8 with a Kerker 4-1. I love the sound a of a CB750 with a 4-1. Now I f I can only find one I am willing to pay for, that is another story.
skydoc_17 Posted July 29, 2008 #4 Posted July 29, 2008 Hi Dan, I removed my stock exhausts in March of this year and replaced them with the Jardines and what a difference! Right away I noticed the bike was more peppy in the mid RPM range and the engine wound up quite a bit faster. I didn't have to rejet and the sound is sooo cool! Not too loud at idle but when you grab a handfull, she lets you know! Even my wife likes them! Now that doesn't happen often enough! Ride Safe, Earl and Jean
skydoc_17 Posted July 29, 2008 #5 Posted July 29, 2008 Dan, I wish I had a sound bite for the other members but I do have a pic!
Yammer Dan Posted July 29, 2008 Author #6 Posted July 29, 2008 Yeah thats them. Look good sound GREAT!!
PBJ Posted July 29, 2008 #7 Posted July 29, 2008 Dan, I wish I had a sound bite for the other members but I do have a pic! I do like the look and sound of the stock pipes but those sure are purty!
GigaWhiskey Posted July 29, 2008 #8 Posted July 29, 2008 I can see where the the turn downs would look good with the 86+ bags but the 83-85 bags do not look right with the turn downs to me.
MasterGuns Posted July 29, 2008 #9 Posted July 29, 2008 I added a set of Jardines to my 1300 and immediately realized that were just too loud. Under heavy acceleration, kinda reminded me of a hopped up small block chevy really winding up. Loved the way they looked but could stand the racket. So now they are in my garage rafters. Maybe someday when I have some hearing loss, I may reinstall them.
Venturous Randy Posted July 29, 2008 #10 Posted July 29, 2008 I can see where the the turn downs would look good with the 86+ bags but the 83-85 bags do not look right with the turn downs to me. I have the lower light bar along with a trailer hitch on my 83 and everything comes out just right. Actually, before I put the Jardines on about ten years ago, the stock pipes were way too short. Now the exhaust comes out just where I want it. I will see if I have a picture of mine when I get home I can post. RandyA
Venturous Randy Posted July 30, 2008 #11 Posted July 30, 2008 As I said, the longer Jardines work well for me. RandyA
GigaWhiskey Posted July 30, 2008 #12 Posted July 30, 2008 Ok Randy, you win, lol. They look right on your bike.
Yammer Dan Posted July 30, 2008 Author #13 Posted July 30, 2008 You could give somebody ideas if they had a set of those Randy.. Look good. I have a trailer hitch and tailpiece in my parts room...........
