Scooter Posted July 28, 2008 #1 Posted July 28, 2008 A couple that I've known all of my life and are now passed on are having their estate auction next Saturday. One item that I've always wanted is on the list. http://www.helbergnussauction.com/auctions/reetz/reetz.htm My wife said no.
Mariner Fan Posted July 28, 2008 #2 Posted July 28, 2008 That stuff is cool! I want to get an officer's sword someday. No doubt those things will sell.
MiCarl Posted July 28, 2008 #3 Posted July 28, 2008 How about the steam tractor? Will she let you have that?
mini-muffin Posted July 28, 2008 #4 Posted July 28, 2008 Pretty interesting stuff on that list. Sorry you can't get the missile, definitely a conversation piece. Make a nice lawn ornament, might even keep away unwanted folks. Margaret
rod Posted July 28, 2008 #5 Posted July 28, 2008 I want the Buick Roadmaster. Rose said no....bummer. Wifes do not have any sense of humor some times. Rod
BigBoyinMS Posted July 28, 2008 #6 Posted July 28, 2008 When I was 14 (early 70's) I had a chance to buy a '52 Roadmaster for $400, and it was in running, clean condition. I wanted that tank SOOOO bad, but mom said no. I would love to street rod this one with a 5.9 Cummins. I know... but normal doesn't apply to me.
juggler Posted July 28, 2008 #7 Posted July 28, 2008 The missile is cool. I'd repaint it and label it with USAF Home Security System. I would also love to get a hold of that sword and add it to my collection.
Gray Ghost Posted July 28, 2008 #8 Posted July 28, 2008 I''d go for the missile but the mounting rack on my Venture will only accept the Hellfire. Missiles will always get you more respect in rush hour traffic.
BOO Posted July 28, 2008 #9 Posted July 28, 2008 Man that missile would be more fun than a person should have with your clothes on. Bet I could quieten down the parties down the street with that thing in my front yard pointed their way. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Jerry
Guest tessa c2 Posted July 28, 2008 #10 Posted July 28, 2008 that will be a pretty interesting auction,
SaltyDawg Posted July 28, 2008 #11 Posted July 28, 2008 Man I'd mount that missle on an automated mount and have it follow people/cars down the street. That would push the pucker factor up ten fold.
mini-muffin Posted July 28, 2008 #12 Posted July 28, 2008 Man I'd mount that missle on an automated mount and have it follow people/cars down the street. That would push the pucker factor up ten fold. Oh now that would be fun. Margaret
a1bummer Posted July 28, 2008 #13 Posted July 28, 2008 It's interesting what kind of things we can learn from those kind of folks. I can only imagine what I can do with some of that stuff. You could hook the steam engine to a generator for when the power goes out. It would also make a heck of a boiler system to heat the shop and house. I wonder if you mounted that missile to our skoots, the cagers would notice us better.
Scooter Posted July 28, 2008 Author #14 Posted July 28, 2008 When I was a kid, Doug would drive the steam tractor in the parade. Pretty impressive. This auction is the 3rd and last auction. He had building after building filled with collectables. Unfortunately I missed the first two auctions.
Redneck Posted July 28, 2008 #15 Posted July 28, 2008 I don't really care about the missal but I want everything else in the first section.
Snaggletooth Posted July 28, 2008 #16 Posted July 28, 2008 I really don't know what I'd do with it when I got home but I'm having fits just thinking of towing that missile back to Omaha behind the bike. Honest officer. It's not concealed so what's the problem? But the Roadmaster is the piece to grab. I had a '55 Century when I was 16 that a woman paid me $25.00 to remove from her yard. Not a Roadmaster, but as close as you can come to a personell carrier as a civilian. It would make a great custom project.
Dano Posted July 28, 2008 #17 Posted July 28, 2008 And they wanted new Hummers for Iraq? We already gottem'! Send that sucker over there, bet it'll come thru with flying colors. Can't let my wife see that other stuff on there, tho. Won't have any M&E $$ left. Dan
