Spark Plug Change Interval

The manual states to replace the spark plugs every 8k. That seems awfully frequent to me. What do you guys do?

I change mine in the spring every year, some years I get 12,000 miles, some years a lot less. And before the subject comes up here and it will I use just the standard spark plugs, nothing fancy. They work just fine.

I just changed the plugs today as a matter of fact, I figured since I didn't know when the last time they were changed better off to do it, and I tend to do it once a year in the spring time as well.
