Oldseadog Posted July 26, 2008 #1 Posted July 26, 2008 I’ve been reading a lot about Progressive suspension and how good they are. Do they really make that much of a difference, and do I need them? I have done a search on this forum and can’t really find an answer. How do I tell if I need new springs, and I guess this would be the time to upgrade if required? Having only owned my VR for a few months it is hard to tell. I think my bike rides very nice, although I have nothing to compare it to. I’m hoping you can help enlighten me. I'm looking forward to any and all feedback on this topic.
Snarley Bill Posted July 26, 2008 #2 Posted July 26, 2008 i thought mine rode fine also.sounds like you answered your own question. if you are happy with the ride just leave it alone and enjoy it. the yamaha springs are fine. the progressive springs are a little stiffer, and made out of a little better chromium alloy steel. they may raise the front end slightly. just add about 6 lb.s of air to your forks will get the same effect.
