Yama Mama Posted July 24, 2008 #1 Posted July 24, 2008 (edited) We may be the only VentureRider members there, but we are leaving early tomorrow morning to ride to Marysville, Ohio for the Last Honda Homecoming. As you know the Gold Wing Factory is moving back to Japan. Ron has wanted to go on a tour of the G.W. factory for a long time. There are all kinds of events going on including a light parade. We will be representing the VentureRider's with pride. I will bring back photos. Mama:7_6_3[1]: Edited July 25, 2008 by Yama Mama
Carbon_One Posted July 24, 2008 #2 Posted July 24, 2008 Know how you'll be feeling Mama. We're here in Sikeston, Mo checking out Trike Riders International rally. 1st day here and we're already swimming with Wings and more to come . Haha. I'll represent the Venture line of bikes as you will be doing and holding our heads high. Seriously had some folks give us the thumbs up here. And may be snagging another new member for the club here. He rode up on a painted 05 and chatted a bit . Gave him the site name so maybe he's already signed up. Man I really need to get some of those business cards printed up. Later, Larry
cecdoo Posted July 24, 2008 #3 Posted July 24, 2008 Sounds like a nice trip Peggy, hope you guys have a great time. I wouldnt mind seeing that plant myself. Craig
Tombo Posted July 24, 2008 #4 Posted July 24, 2008 Yama Mama you won't be the only VentureRider there. I am leaving early tomorrow with two friends from work to make the trip. One of them rides a GW and he wanted to visit the factory one last time. We are taking Rt. 33 through WV into Ohio. Don't know where we will end up tomorrow night but have reservations in Dublin, OH at the Embassy Suites for Friday night. We plan on leaving sometime Saturday and return to the Washington, D.C. area via Rt. 50. I have to be back early Sunday for a business trip to NYC Sunday night. I will keep an eye out and with luck we may cross paths. Ride on....
Yama Mama Posted July 24, 2008 Author #5 Posted July 24, 2008 Well, have a safe trip. These people will at least be able to see two classic motorcycles while they are there. Have fun! Wish we could have been there the same time. Mama:big-grin-emoticon:
PBJ Posted July 24, 2008 #6 Posted July 24, 2008 Hey Mama, I couldn't believe the news about Marysville losing the Wings. Both My 84 V65 Sabre and my brothers 98 Shadow Tour were also made there. It would be worth it for us to go to see where our bikes came to life. Maybe we'll see you there.Phil
Yama Mama Posted July 25, 2008 Author #8 Posted July 25, 2008 We made it there. All I can say is Wow. There were all kinds of bikes there, of course mostly Gold Wings, however there were 8 Ventures we saw. The vendors were located in Marysville and Bellefountain. The Factory is amazing. We went on a tour, however I could not bring in my camera. I do have other photos to show. Last night there was a Light Parade to Bellefountain starting at the Factory. Prior to this there was an Ice cream social. Oh My delicious. We met a bunch of nice folks. People were there from all over. I have never seen so many Gold Wings,Valkeries, and VTX's. I wish we had been going to this annual event all the years prior to this one. I understand that the employees are promised jobs in the Auto factory. It seems to be a wonderful place to work, many we talked to at worked there for a long time. It will close in June of 09. Mama
