igya Posted July 23, 2008 #1 Posted July 23, 2008 I prefer leaving the side engine panels off my '85 in cold weather. But in order to "clean up" the engine area, I'd like to remove the black support tube/bar that attaches to the frame and runs accross the bottom of the jugs front to back. Question is, does that bar do any more than support the plastic panels? I really can't see where it could play a more vital roll than that. Any input would be appreciated!

Structurally they probably don't do a thing?? I'd go ahead and take 'm off.

Dano Posted July 23, 2008 #4 Posted July 23, 2008 Only if you put in solid motor mounts. Those bars help to stiffen the frame front to back. Just my opinion, tho. Dan
