yamahamer Posted July 21, 2008 #1 Posted July 21, 2008 Does anyone know where to find the power wire that feeds all four coils? The hot licks kit I'm installing has to tap into it to kill all coil power on the motor and lite the exhaust.
GeorgeS Posted July 21, 2008 #2 Posted July 21, 2008 On the 1st Gens, the power for the TCI, and 4 Ignition Coils comes from the " Ingition Fuse " 15 Amp. If installing any New Equipment, I strongly suggest you Install a NEW Fuse ( could be In line fuse ) and hook the Voltage Source comeing from the Ignition Switch, On-Off Contacts, ie: the INPUT side of the Fuse block assembly, ( left side of existing fuse's ) Its a " Br " wire ( brown ) on 1st gens, Not sure on 2nd gens. The 15 Amp Ingnition Fuse allready has to much hooked to it. You should have a Seperate NEW fuse for your NEW Equipment.
yamahamer Posted July 21, 2008 Author #3 Posted July 21, 2008 Thanks!! I never even thought of the fuse.......must of had a brain fart.
Squeeze Posted July 21, 2008 #4 Posted July 21, 2008 I'm not sure about the Kit you want to install, but if that is something like an Afterburner Kit, i would recommmend not to kill the Ignition Circuit but only the red/white Wire(+12 Volts) which leads to all 4 Coils. I can't say where to find the Origin on your Bike, but you should choose to do it that Way.
yamahamer Posted July 22, 2008 Author #5 Posted July 22, 2008 Thats the wire I'm looking for. I guess I'll have to chase it from each coil to find it.
