Hey I was gonna ask. Did they throw in doing the weave and offset weave only using your right hand? Left hand in your lap. They were trying to make the point of pressing in a turn.

Now that was a challenge, idling through the cones one handed. Never tried that before. Hell, it's hard enough lighting a smoke at 75! LOL!

Well, I'm back. Passed with flying colors. Well, except for that dang double u-turn box. I never can seem to get the last U-turn right.

I'll be practicing the ride like a pro drills before I go into the advanced class. Four of the class members did not pass so it's not as easy as you might think.

Glad I took this class. Getting educated on proper riding techniques is money well spent.

I took the BRC class in 2005 with my son. It took me 3 tries before I kept the bike in the box. I was the first to do the box on skills testing for my license and aced it. I had not ridden before. The instructors were great. There was a huge difference between the 125 I took the class on and the 87 Venture I bought a week later. Now after almost 20,000 miles I'm on my second Venture and have pulled cargo and camping trailers. I still use the skills they taught me, it's well worth the time.

My ex took a class threw HD at a cost of 200 bucks last yr and you go out on rides and use your own bike and when you pass you get your lic, thats in Ky and there laws are very close to ours. I dont know if they have anything like that here or not.

The first course I took was in 1882 in Lafayette, IN. When I moved to Ohio in 2000, I didn't have a bike at that time, so I couldn't get the MC endorsement. I picked up Big Red in 2006 and took the course offered by Honda in Troy, OH. This was on a smaller Honda which covered the road course required by OH. It was much easier on the smaller Honda than it would have been on the Big Red. Ohio also has an experienced course that I would like to take in a few years and I've been told I could also get a job teaching the course (a scary thought) after a few years on the road.

Man I want to know the secret of your longevity.

Hi Guys & Gals,

I highly recommend the course to all people learing to Ride. I was one of the staff who delivered the Canadian version "Gearing Up" by the Newfopundland Safety Council in Newfoundland, Canada from 1992 to 1996.

Excellent Course, Excellent Knowledge!

Hey Don, I was just going to ask if anyone had taken the advanced riding course could you give us some details about the differences between the beginner and Advanced?

The others have pretty much answered your question and I agree. They throw in a few more avoidance maneuvers and some more emergency stopping. The biggest thing to me though is that you take it on your own bike. There is a lot of difference between the beginners course where we used 250 Hondas and then taking the advanced course on my RSV.
