okiefirefighter Posted July 17, 2008 #1 Posted July 17, 2008 (edited) I am rebuilding the forks on my '87 VR and I am going to replace the springs with with Progressives. I found them on Dennis Kirks's for $77.99. Should I order seals also? My front brake pads are soaked with fork oil and I don't know what kind to replace them with. My questions are: What weight oil? How much oil? What kind of brake pads? Thanks, Kevin Edited July 17, 2008 by okiefirefighter more wording

Thanks, Kevin If you are rebuilding the forks then you certainly should be replacing the seals. By your statement that you are rebuilding, do you mean just replacing the springs or are you also replacing the bushes in the lowers. These should be replaced if the seals are leaking as those wear and allow movement which is the main reason that the seals leak. Dick

Dano Posted July 19, 2008 #5 Posted July 19, 2008 Yes, but the lower bushings are actually called "front fork Piston". Don't know why, but they do!! Item # 36 on list. Dan
