Where could I get one of those? I have a new LED spinner tail light but it is red and doesn't show very well with the red lens. I was thinking of replacing it with a clear one.

Thanks

Just make sure you have enough other lights on your bike. Frankly, a red light will be brightest behind a red lens (because a red lens passes all red light and blocks other colors). You may see your fancy spinning pattern better under a clear lens, but it won't be any brighter.

I rode behind someone on a day ride up at Kitchener who had a very DANGEROUS bike in the day time. He had clear lens and a red bulb in it. You could see a slight red glow from his tail light, and if you were focusing on it, you could see when his brake light came on, but it was so dim in the day that it NEVER caught my eye, and if you did not actually see it change from tail to brake, there was no way you would ever know his brake light was on when you did look at it! The only thing that was bright enough to make me notice he hit his brakes was a small LED about 2" long on the top of his license plate. He also had the Yamaha trunk wing with LEDs, but frankly, those don't light up all that much in the bright sun either.

I was going to tell him about it after the ride, but he disappeared when we got back on Wednesday, and I didn't know who it was. He was riding a Midnight RSV, so if you are reading this and it sounds like it might be you, PLEASE go check out your bike from the rear in bright sun. If you don't want to put a decent tail light bulb behind that white lens, you BADLY need another auxiliary brake light!

Said this before, and I'll say it again....Euro=Yuck

I swapped out the stupid clear lenses that were on my 07 turnsignals for red lenses.

So now I have all red lenses at the back. Much better.

I agree. I changed my clear turn signal lenses on my '06 to red. With the harley lights, now everything matches.:2143:

Thanks Goose for this heads up. It would be bright enough it it was pointing directly in the lens but since it points upwards, I feel it is not quite bright enough. As a brake light it is very good and bright. I also have a 15" LED bar under the trunk which is very bright as well. I am also looking at getting a replacement panel for the turn signal that will act as Tail/Brake/turn signal all in one. This fills the whole cavity of the turn signal.

The lens get at Cruiser customizing as someone earlier said..IF you REALLY want to be seen I suggest the ones I use from Custom Dynamics http://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm ASK ANYONE that has ridden behind me,they are amazed at how bright they are click on that link and you will see the LED panel that just plugs in at the 1157 socket that is stock. Those that have seen it are WildHair39.Lonestarmedic,Ponch , GaryN, more but I can tell you YOU WILL BE SEEN. At night when I hit the brake light I can see it illuminate from My rider position. Tom...By the way Everyone likes there on way they dress there bike so if you like clear DO IT..I like Clear.

Not in the USA. Red OR amber turn signals are legal to the rear. Amber to the front.

One of the problems with clear lenses is that during the day, sunlight tends to 'washout' the red light somewhat. Hey...do whatever you want. I prefer red...I like traditional styling on a traditionally styled bike.

Well my truck has red turn signals, any difference?:2132:

LOL....never thought of that. I guess there are still some cages here also with red lens on turn signal. I was just too focused on bike and never thought of 4 wheeled vehicles.

I replaced my 01's rear turn sigmals with a pair of front ones that I bought from cliffrue.com and sold the used ones on ebay - so the swap was not that expensive. I got the red lenses from cruiser (for about $10 - I think) to replace the amber. So now the bike has 2 additional RED tail lights & blinkers on each side of the stock tail light.
