I picked up my carb sync gauge today and within a hour I had all four carbs synced and my bike runs so sweet. I thought it would be harder than it was, but it was quite easy. I suggest that you do it as recomended in the service manual. I love to ride. :scubadive: :big-grin-emoticon:

Funny enough, I just got my CarbTune kit a few mins ago in the mail and just picked up the instructions listed on here as someone mentioned the Yamaha manual was a little off somewhere..

Only an hour to do? What did you use for a tacho? That's the only thing I am stumped on..

I'm reading the manual for the carbtune and finding it confusing about using the restrictiors as indicated.. But meh, I'm sure someone has an 'idiot guide' to this whole process ; )

Cut the tubes and restrictors to the lengths as indicated in the manual. A short one is connected to a long one by one of the restrictors. Do this for all four. The long one attaches to the Carb Pro the other end,the short tube is connected to the vacuum port. Do this for all four. 2 go to the left hand cylinders and 2 to the right hand cylinders and your ready to go. I have done mine twice and did not need a tachometer. Just make sure your engine is at normal operating temperature.

Go to the thread below and follow the intructions you will find them very straight forward and easy to follow.

Hope this works. First time I was an hour ( just taking it slow) the second time less than 30 mins. It takes longer to change plugs. Now thats a pain of a job.

Thanks fr te additional info.. I hadn't put in the restrictors as you mentioned when I did mine last night.. I also had a bit of throttle on (just enough to bring it off idle) and followed the rest of the directions. I took the bike out for a run afterwards and could feel the improvements right away. Quite smooth.. And, as soon as the rains stop, I'll take it out on the highway and see what it does. But it does appear I may have to do it over again but with the restrictors installed and do it on idle.

I did find that the bars were all over the place when on idle but solid level when just a tad of throttle was put in..

Cheers
