Guest Vermincelli Posted July 14, 2008 #1 Posted July 14, 2008 Got bored this weekend and figured it was time to do a little cosmetic work to the old girl. I'm not a real big fan of chrome (I know, blasphemy!!!) so figured I'd carry the theme out even further.
Squidley Posted July 14, 2008 #2 Posted July 14, 2008 Looks good, it's different and thats a good thing. I know that I painted the forks on my '86 black and it really looks good. Keep it up and cant wait to see the next time you get bored
Maritimer Posted July 14, 2008 #3 Posted July 14, 2008 All I can say is WoW. Looks really good. I am a big fan of Black/Yellow, this certainly makes me like it even more.
WV Terry Posted July 14, 2008 #4 Posted July 14, 2008 Wow what a difference paint can make! IMHO it really updates this bike, good job!! Terry
bongobobny Posted July 14, 2008 #5 Posted July 14, 2008 Me likey, but may I suggest painting your entire false gas tank rather than just the fuel door. I just think that it would blend right in with the dash and seat... JMHO.
Mariner Fan Posted July 14, 2008 #6 Posted July 14, 2008 I like it! Yellow and black go well together..
Brake Pad Posted July 14, 2008 #8 Posted July 14, 2008 Touch up paint that front finder mud flap, it stands out:smile5:
Yammer Dan Posted July 14, 2008 #9 Posted July 14, 2008 Had that idea for my 750. Haven't got to it yet. Really looks good!!
Dano Posted July 14, 2008 #10 Posted July 14, 2008 What is the "can" in between the cylinder banks for? Something for the fuel system? I like that "blacked-out" engine look, Going to do that to mine, but thought about keeping the side covers polished. Nice looking bike!!
SilvrT Posted July 14, 2008 #11 Posted July 14, 2008 VERY COOL! ... except for one thing .... those chrome pipes look totally out of place! I think yellow pipes would be awesome!
Venturous Randy Posted July 14, 2008 #12 Posted July 14, 2008 I like it, but I also have a suggestion. If you are going to remove the lower front plastic, make your side panels "bikini" like I did. I will try to add some pictures when I get home from work. If you do not want to cut your's up, pick up a couple off ebay and do them, that's what I did. RandyA
Guest Vermincelli Posted July 14, 2008 #13 Posted July 14, 2008 actually the exhaust is next. The tank cover does need to be reshot after my tankbag melted to it but wasn't sure if it would be yellow again or black. It really started with me trying an old hotrodder trick of painting the engine to help it run a bit cooler, so far so good. as for the side panels, I was thinking about doing that with an ebay set. Oh, the canister is part of a CA. emissions package. (trying to trace all of it to see if it can be yanked)
muffinman Posted July 14, 2008 #14 Posted July 14, 2008 While the bike looks good in yellow I know it would look Fabuluos in Pink Jeff
Guest Vermincelli Posted July 15, 2008 #16 Posted July 15, 2008 While the bike looks good in yellow I know it would look Fabuluos in Pink Jeff That is what you would call a guaranteed anti theft device.
MikeM8560 Posted July 15, 2008 #17 Posted July 15, 2008 I like the black and Yellow, so how doese paint keep the motor cool?
Guest Vermincelli Posted July 15, 2008 #18 Posted July 15, 2008 I like the black and Yellow, so how doese paint keep the motor cool? allows the motor to radiate it's own heat better, or so the story goes.
