Yammer Dan Posted July 13, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 13, 2008 Got the carbs back on my bike and have a little line-up question. pushing down on 1 and 4 they sit solid. Pushing on 2 and three I can rock them almost 1/4 inch. Never noticed this before. Am I just looking for more problems on this thing or is this acceptable? Can't see anything in the way. These things are a bear for me hooking up cables. Really don't want to pull them again.

Venturous Randy Posted July 14, 2008 Share #5 Posted July 14, 2008 I replaced the boots under my carbs last year with some off another engine I had and I thought I was never going to get the carbs to seat. Yep, bigger hammer. RandyA
Neil86 Posted July 14, 2008 Share #6 Posted July 14, 2008 Are all the intakes and carbs 1200s?
Yammer Dan Posted July 14, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted July 14, 2008 Had these off couple times and didn't go back this hard. Fought the cables about 4 hrs this time. Thought it was supposed to get easier each time? That inside one just didn't want to go and my fingers just don't want to fit in there!!
Dano Posted July 14, 2008 Share #8 Posted July 14, 2008 Dan, try taking the cables loose at the slider, then hooking them up to the carbs before you stick the carbs in the bike. Its easier for me this way. Of course, I keep a 3 lb. hammer around just in case I need any carb work done!! Dan
Yammer Dan Posted July 14, 2008 Author Share #9 Posted July 14, 2008 Jeff advised me to take them loose at the slider also. I've been doing it at the carbs. Always got to do things the hard way! Still learning...
