Again, a new riding season and I am faced with indecision on what type of communication device to use between me and my wife's scoot. I have the VR with a good Cb, but I don't know what to do with Ladyriders scoot. J&M has a new handlebar mount Cb, but is costly when you have to get the headset and mounting with it. Nady, I have heard a lot of con with it and am leary. :no-no-no:

What I need is a bike to bike radio that will hook up to her Ipod and play sterio to her headset. If I go FRS, I will have to get two. Maybe the price for FRS vs Cb equals in the end? :confused07: :confused07:

Does anybody have any experience with any of these add-ons and can give me a testimonial?

Never had any experience with those. But one thing you want is ease of use. You don't want her fumbling with a mic or something to talk. Consider a J&M with a good PTT so it does not distract her eyes from the road. And if its a CB you can talk with the rest of VR riders on channel 29 on rides.

Buddy, you're right. She is worth the expense. You get what you pay for in the end and it is never good to try to cut corners. I'm part Scott - ya know.

They make FRS handheld with VOX with possible throat mics . A couple of my freinds carry a set or two among them on rides and pass them around to other riders that join the group whom do not have radios . These guys are mostly crotchrocketeers whom do not have any devices on their bikes .

I prefer the CB , whether I ride solo for traffic reports on the super slab or with rides with the VR members . I would recommend the CB with PTT for community communications and economical handheld/VOX FRS for rider to rider for your Private conversations .

I have seen the J&M setup on a Dyna and the lady riding it loved it. I didn't have my helmet set up for com. at that time so I didn't get a chance to talk to her on it, just about it. With the PTT on the unit just above the left grip, it looked like it would be real easy to use.

When I had my 650 Maxim ( in 2000) I was trying to do the same thing and ended up putting about $1500 in a radio, XM, Hidden Cb and an Autocom system to tie it all together! And I had to use a hand held mike to talk. It was a pain to use but at that time there wasn't anything like the J&M.

Go with the J&M.
