Iowawegian Posted July 9, 2008 #1 Posted July 9, 2008 Gary just got a call from the dealer. They just got done tearing down our Venture and there is over $5,000 damage from when we hit the deer! :scared:And here I thought we would just needed a new tire, front fender and headlight bracket! $500.00 deductible (Which is a lot cheaper than hospital bills). Man, am I glad we had full coverage on that thing. It will be interesting to see what the insuance company says.
Yama Mama Posted July 9, 2008 #2 Posted July 9, 2008 Yep, Insurance is a very good thing! Hope they get your Venture fixed up like brand new. Heck, our 99 would have probably been totalled Mama:hurts:
Iowawegian Posted July 9, 2008 Author #3 Posted July 9, 2008 Hey you!! How you doing? I just can't believe there is that much damage!! We've put on over 1,500 miles since we hit the deer and now I'm wondering how dumb that was. We take off for New Orleans in a couple hours till Monday for work, so this was a good week to get it into the shop, but I'm missing it already!! Nice hearing from you!

If your priceing through a Yamaha Dealer I don't doubt price at all the damage is probably minor if it was major at the cost of Yamaha OEM parts and labor who knows what the price would be. Last time Insurance company totalled my bike and paid me off I had it back on the road with $37.00 worth of parts off ebay and about $25.00 worth of materials to repair plastic parts. New paint job was a few hundred in materials, and my time. Still alot cheaper than the $4,000 Insurance paid me. I've been paid off 4 times when Insurance totaled my bike with an 87 any time it get knocked over and there is damage to plastic they total bike. I've gtotten pretty good at fixing broken plastic.
