ibents Posted July 7, 2008 #1 Posted July 7, 2008 Just thought I'd comment on a ride that took place yesterday (Sun) to the Vietnam Memorial on the river front here in Windsor, this wall lists the names of Canadians killed in that war fighting with the US forces. The parade of motorcycles was made up of many differerant chapters and veteran organizations from Ontario and Michigan. We left from RCL branch 594 with an estimated 150 or so bikes and rode to the river with police escort, once there a service was held and 3 more names added to the list, it was very emotional especially for some of the families of those named, wreaths were laid in tribute to the fallen along with a rifle salute and Taps. There was one USM sgt there in full dress uniform who took part in the ceremony and believe me it was a hot day he must have been cooking (he also rode a bike). After the service many went back to the legion for a BBQ and also to get a good look at the Michigan mobile wall which was set up in the hall. It was sad to see the many, many names of men just from that one state. I don't know if there were any members from this site that attended, I only found out about it on Saturday night so I didn't get chance to post it earlier, I'll certainly be going again next year and will post it sooner. God bless all our troops where ever they may be.
