I am meeting with the adjuster this morning to see what my wrecked 87' Venture Royale is worth in his eyes. There has not been as many to compare to on ebay this last week or so.

WISH me LUCK I will need it! Any prices from 87' sold in your area?

Should be worth 3K to 5K depending on condition and mileage. If he totals it ask for salvage rights as you can then either fix it or part it out...

Remember, it's a big game. Insurance companies are NOT in business to give away money. They wil give you a very low offer. Don't be afraid to counter with a figure waaaay high as you can barter from there. Do NOT take the first offer. It can take days, weeks and even months to finally settle on a figure. Oh, my back! Oh, my neck!! Oh, my lawyer!!!

I am getting ready to deal with the same thing about my bike getting knocked over (Hit & Run). State Farm has accepted liability on this and has had me get an estimate for everything. My total came to $2,670. What complicates my situation even more is the cuctom paint job. Evidently, ghost flames don't come cheap.

So, I faxed off everything the other day and I have not heard anything back yet. I guess it will be sopmetime after the 4th weekend.

Anyway, I wish you luck dave and you please do the same for me.

I am having the same problem. Bike shop says book value for MINT 87 is $3500can. They think that the 2 adjusters that showed up are going to write it off(estimate of $6000can. to fix by shop)Now just have to get insurance to be in office and return my phone calls. Also to know what day it is(their voice mail is 1 day behind) Also had bike appraised at $6000can. when I took out insurance with collision but not sure if that was replacement value or depreciated over the years and policy is unclear. Will find out I guess. Hope we have good luck. I will probably have more problems as I hit another vehicle from behind so it is always the fault of the one behind. Good luck!:080402gudl_prv:

The adjuster looked at the 87' and has no idea what to do. The dealer stopped his estimate shy of $4500 not including labor or any hidden damage. Both are unsure what parts are available new but show plenty that are discontinued.

Of course his view is the damage is more than the resale value...my reply being...:no-no-no:then I guess you will repair my motorcycle.

I made sure he was aware the bike was not for sale, I had deceided that the Venture should easily break the 200,000 mark on the odometer. And pointed at the new brake pads front and rear, rebuilt rear caliper done by the same dealer, new tire, and even the collector I just pulled from the mailbox along with Jardin exhaust information, etc.

Point being, I had every intention of logging alot more miles.

He scratched his head, and said I will try to let you know something in the next few days. My response with a light hearted hand shake...have a safe holiday, WATCH out for motorcycles!

My insurance contacted me and said WRITE OFF.Bike value $3795can. My amount with deductible taken off (my pocket take home ) $3800 They get bike.

If I keep bike $2700. They don't care about other things I put on(doesn't add to value)New tire $275/light bar $100/ Rotor covers$150/oil filter adapter $80. Will replace helmet even tho I don't have receipt if I cut off straps. Not sure if they will replace rain suit/gloves and boots if I don't have receipts.

Wife wants me to leave bike and get the $3800 and get another. I think I should keep and get another close so I have spares and new parts.

Any help?

I sold my 87 a few months ago, it was in very nice shape, I got $3250.00 for it the second day I listed it, I probably could have gotten alittle more. I think $3500 would not be unreasonable.:080402gudl_prv: Craig
