lonestarmedic Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Ok folks, I ran into what I feel are the ultimate wiring diagrams for bikes. Please go to www.kojaycat.com and do some reading. Currently they do not offer diagrams for Ventures. However Colin would be interested in working with us to make them for all needed Venture series. I need to see what the the club input is on this idea. I figure about $30 to $40 per set U.S. Might be less. The 1500 Wing set is right in that range. We have a sister club in the U.K. that would probably be interested. I will send them the same message. We might need to help with pictures of components etc. JB
DonB Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I have a colored schematic for the 1983 Venture which should also cover 84 and 85 bikes and maybe even later models. I am will to share these schematics. One is English and the other is French-English. I would upload them but they are 1.5 megs each. Maybe they could go into the technical section. The original is 14.5 inches X 21 inches and I had to scan it in six sections. Mike Brood then took these six sections and pasted them together. He did an excellant job in this as you can see in the resultant schematic. I then cleaned it up a bit as there was some discoloration and crease marks showing. Looks good now. If anyone wants me to email one or both schematics directly just let me know. Donb@mnsi.net
muffinman Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Question What is wrong with the wiring schematics in the book for any of the bikes first or second gen?? Maybe I am missing something or I am just used to these kind of diagrams. Jeff
bongobobny Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 We use a system like that on some of our hydraulic schematics for some of the more complex actuators at work. Helps to figure out where the oil is going and where it's been...
KiteSquid Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Look at the last two pages of the service manual that is FREE to download from the tech section of this forum. They are not color coded but they do use standardized schematic symbols instead of the drawings of switches etc that the kojaycat diagrams have. If I have some time, I will redraw the schematcs in color in AutoCad, transfer them to a PDF file format and share them for free, but I will have to shake loose some time......
kantornado Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 JB It's a good idea you have, I had never herd of kojaycat. There schematics are really nice and if we did not have a 5000 member web site I would say it would be great idea to buy them. Because of you and your suggestion we may have color schematics. WOOOOOHOOOOO Isn't this a GREAT PLACE. HAPPY CANADA DAYS...............................Ron
