pick Posted June 30, 2008 #1 Posted June 30, 2008 After reading ALOT of previous posts here, I decided to get rid of my Dunlop 404's (both sets of rears got about 7500) and am replacing with Venoms. Saw that most perfered Moto for their tires, free shipping but American Tire beat their free shipping price. Moto wanted 257.90 122.95 for the front and 134.95 for the rear. American wanted 109.60 for the front and 126.33 for the rear with 13 for shipping so saved a few bucks Will let ya kow how long they take to ship! Looking forward to trying out the Avons!
Guest Highway Posted July 1, 2008 #2 Posted July 1, 2008 With the times as they are, thats a fair price on the tires.. Just changed my rear tire and got 12,587 miles on the last venom. I always run 45 psi in my tires (both). Have never gotten the miles out of any other brand... good luck, ride safe..
Guest Boomerbiker Posted July 1, 2008 #3 Posted July 1, 2008 SW Moto is just the greatest. Ordered two tires yesterday morning and they were delivered to my home at Noon today - $257.90. Rear one goes on tomorrow. The tire issue is somewhat subjective, but I am sold on Avons and also run the smaller front tire that is the subject of much discussion. There was some tread left on the rear at 12,500 miles, but I am planning a long trip out west and just didn't want to stretch it too far or have the hassle of doing the change on the road. I had the stock Brickstones swapped out at time of purchase based on an earlier experience with those noisy buggers at freeway speeds and in cornering. They are awful. Bill
SaltyDawg Posted July 1, 2008 #4 Posted July 1, 2008 21,000 out of my rear tire but it was just a Commander.
Guest Highway Posted July 2, 2008 #5 Posted July 2, 2008 21,000 out of my rear tire but it was just a Commander. You cant count trailer miles/// Never heard of that kind of milage before
MAINEAC Posted July 2, 2008 #6 Posted July 2, 2008 I only got 7500 miles out of a rear Avon.. I know others are claiming up to 3 times that.. I don't know how they do it.. Just be careful on wet roads.. I found the Avons to be a little suspect on wet roads compared to the Dunlop 404s.. I hope you have better luck than I did... I'm going to the Dark Side and just bought a Car Tire.. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=222816#post222816
