Mariner Fan Posted June 30, 2008 #1 Posted June 30, 2008 Kinda sad. These guys were really lucky. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxOgvu3qVs8]YouTube - Wrong-Way Driver Crashes Into 9 Motorcycles[/ame]
sarges46 Posted June 30, 2008 #2 Posted June 30, 2008 WOW...that is awful. What was that driver thinking I wonder?
friesman Posted June 30, 2008 #3 Posted June 30, 2008 Well, at least I am hoping it was an accident and not some wacko on a mission known only to him. I hope everything turns out as well as can be expected for the riders. Brian
Mariner Fan Posted June 30, 2008 Author #4 Posted June 30, 2008 Yea, I guess they were heading for a funeral when the car hit them. The driver of the car said he had a seizure. http://www.local6.com/traffic/16737368/detail.html
skidrow Posted June 30, 2008 #5 Posted June 30, 2008 The driver is 52, anything could have happened to him to cause this. 3 second siezure is all it takes. My grandson has them when he forgets his meds.
WIKD Posted June 30, 2008 #6 Posted June 30, 2008 The group was the Outlaws from Osceola County, Florida. There were actually 12 motorcyclists transported and ten bikes damaged. One member had his leg amputated, one his foot and one will probably lose at least part of his foot if not the whole thing. Driver claims to have had a seizure but there is still no info as to whether he had a license or not. Many seizure patients have their license revoked to keep this exact instance from happening. Be careful out there. One minute you're enjoying the ride and the next this happens.

No matter how careful you are, you can't avoid something like that. I'm sorry to hear that one of the guys lost a leg.
WIKD Posted July 1, 2008 #8 Posted July 1, 2008 Have to agree that's a hard thing to avoid if not impossible. Just plain sucks.
Tatonka Posted July 1, 2008 #9 Posted July 1, 2008 Wow, one of those unexpected things out of the blue. Sometimes I ride in a group with Legion Riders and I often think how something like that could happen. Most people are so busy concentrating on the ones in the group directly to the side and to the front while watching their mirrors, that I'm not surprised that nine bikes could get wiped holding the recommended intervals. Guess it happened too fast and the first reaction was disbelief. I always used to only worry about a truck or car from the rear, now? I wonder if bikers can get PTSD like pointmen on patrol? I hope the guys get better soon. Prayers going up for them.
ediddy Posted July 1, 2008 #10 Posted July 1, 2008 I saw this last night on the harley tech talk site. As one guy said, this dude hit the outlaws; he has more problems to worry about than having seizures.

Are they part of the Outlaw's?
Yammer Dan Posted July 1, 2008 #12 Posted July 1, 2008 It can happen so quick. Insurance probally get out of it.
