83 Royale - Front Fork Question

Any one have advise on how to push up the air joint bracket to remove the spring wire clip so that the fork leg will drop down (shown manual page 5-30)

 

If it just pushes up it must take a 500 pound ape - cause mine won't move

The O rings inside stick pretty good, I use a brass drift & hammer to tap them up and off (from below).

wiil get a little more forceful in the morning, I was afraid I was missing something

Spray something like WD 40 on the Fork Legs, let it sink for a while and turn the Rings to left and right before prying them off. Once you got them moved, they will come up easily.

Thanks guys ....Sprayed with Crud Buster, left sitting for a few minutes.A section about 1 foot long of 1" sch. 40 pvc from uderneath and 1 tap with hammer did the deed
