86er Posted June 27, 2008 #1 Posted June 27, 2008 (edited) Here are a few pics. I've got the Road Sofa torn down. I had to take the fairing brace off, in the last wreck, at the Dragon, I bent the left mirror mount.....this time it was the right side. Last time I replaced the fairing mount. I decided to use the old brace and the replacement to come up with one. After some careful measuring and cutting, we welded it back together. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1386.jpg Welded and time for some grinding. You don't need to weld pretty, you just need to grind pretty! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1387.jpg I'm only worried with the area that needs to fit the plastic cover. It's all behind plastic. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1388.jpg A little black paint works wonders! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1389.jpg It's ugly naked, but the lines are nice! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1379.jpg I can see making a custom out of it! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1380.jpg OK, I'll move down because the next few pics are of my road rash. Not bad, but if you're queezy, you might stop here! . . . . .. . . . . . . . . This stings a little! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1381.jpg This hurts to bend! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1382.jpg There might be a scar involved here! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1383.jpg Hey! I warned ya! Edited June 27, 2008 by 86er
Ponch Posted June 27, 2008 #2 Posted June 27, 2008 Man, Todd. You're lucky nothing (on you) was broken. Nice repair job. Ponch
Dano Posted June 27, 2008 #3 Posted June 27, 2008 When I had mine put back together before I started on the plastics, that was my thought....... Great lines, just need to hang some panels and make it look like an older Ducati, something along those lines.... Scoop built in the front, wraparound body panels, R1/6 tail end.... SMoke rollin' off the tire as you take off...... One of these days!!!!
eagleeye Posted June 27, 2008 #4 Posted June 27, 2008 Hey Todd, the road rash will heal, ugly but we both know that in time it'll be all gone, on the other hand the bike will take a bit to be back again. The best to you, Steve
KingSizer Posted June 27, 2008 #5 Posted June 27, 2008 Just spray some paint on that road rash. I heard once that a little black paint works wonders!. Seriously though, glad you're not too messed up. From another Todd...
DragonRider Posted June 27, 2008 #6 Posted June 27, 2008 Help, he is the only person I know of who has not only laid his bike down twice but did it on both sides in each incident........something tells me he might need to slow down a little so when he goes down it will slide to a stop before flipping over on its other side............ And I dont thing any amount of black paint or any other would help Todd at this late stage of life.......:rotf: Just spray some paint on that road rash. I heard once that a little black paint works wonders!. Seriously though, glad you're not too messed up. From another Todd...
Eck Posted June 27, 2008 #7 Posted June 27, 2008 Hey Todd, I have some "body filler" if you need any....dang guy....bet a fifth of jack would feel good about now..
Marcarl Posted June 27, 2008 #8 Posted June 27, 2008 Guess I'll stay away from the dragon, I like more time for riding, less time for fixing and healing. Glad to hear it all turned out so well, slow down a little, next time we might have to read words in a different order.
PBJ Posted June 27, 2008 #9 Posted June 27, 2008 Hey Todd i wonder how a V max dumby tank and scoop would look on that thing. Basically the same bikes. Some low bars and a headlight and maybe even some better ground clearance and handling.
86er Posted June 28, 2008 Author #10 Posted June 28, 2008 (edited) Hey Todd, I have some "body filler" if you need any....dang guy....bet a fifth of jack would feel good about now.. The Evan Williams Bourbon is what gets me in the shower each night to scrub it down, Eck! Guess I'll stay away from the dragon, I like more time for riding, less time for fixing and healing. Glad to hear it all turned out so well, slow down a little, next time we might have to read words in a different order. I wasn't even on the Dragon this time, Carl; I was less than a mile from home! An older friend of mine told me "In three years you won't be doing all this scraping crap! When you get closer to 60 it doesn't matter as much!"........................I don't buy it! (I hope!!!)
