Headlight Problem

Hi everyone, I think this is my first post. I had my low beam go out on my 83 Venture. I replaced the bulb and noticed the next time I hit the low beams it was again not working. I bought another H4 60/55 and immediately check the low beam and it's still not working. I've adjusted the headlight lower so that the high beam doesn't blind oncoming drivers but this also restrict the range that is lit when driving at night. Has anyone had this problem or any ideas what may be causing this problem.

If you have an ohmmeter, you can check the bulbs out off the bike to see if they are bad. You should have some continiuity between any of combo of the three terminals, like in the 1 or 2 ohm range.

Has anyone had this problem or any ideas what may be causing this problem.

 

Possibly cold solder joints on the CMS, look at the attached PDF, for how to check & repair.

Thanks to all for the reponses, this gives me a place to start. I think I'll check the switch contacts first. I also have had the instrument cluster out while working on lubing the speedo. I unhooked the wiring at the center of the cluster and it may not be plugged in good. I'll keep everyone informed when progress is made.
