funrider Posted June 24, 2008 #1 Posted June 24, 2008 Just wondering what should be drained when changing oil, (please, no one say oil). What I mean is where should the oil be drained? First would be the big drain plug, next the oil filter. Doe's any one also drain the bottom bolt, (alen head) on the left hand side of the bike as you are setting on it. It is the cover farthest back , down by the foot peg. To get straight in on it you have to fold the foot peg back. It is made to allow for draining. It has a copper washer on it. I drain it each time I change oil.
Freebird Posted June 24, 2008 #2 Posted June 24, 2008 I never bothered with it. I change my oil often enough that it's never all that dirty. The little bit that is left by not removing that screw is really insignificant in my opinion. It will be so diluted with the new oil that it doesn't matter.

Yep, What he said... Would be like mixing in a table spoon or two of fat free milk into a gallon of regular milk... Insignificant..doesnt matter. and I would bet if you asked your Yamaha dealer ...they would say "What Screw"?
