skidrow Posted June 16, 2008 #1 Posted June 16, 2008 Kbay And I Have The Same Venture. Same Color, Same Year, Etc. No Not Totally. We Both Noticed His Choke Pull Is On The Left Side And Mine Is On The Right. Mine Having Come From Louisiana(small Third World Country), Could Be On The Wrong Side As The Antenea's Were Backwards Too. Anybody Else Have The Choke On The Right Side?
Freebird Posted June 16, 2008 #2 Posted June 16, 2008 I've never heard of such a thing. Every one I have ever seen was on the left side. I understand the antennas as they are part of the dealer assembly process but the choke comes assembled from the factory. That is really puzzling to me.
gibvel Posted June 16, 2008 #3 Posted June 16, 2008 Is it possible that the whole carb assembly was put on 180º out? Don't know if this is possible but just a thought.
Tartan Terror Posted June 16, 2008 #4 Posted June 16, 2008 Or maybe you are mistaking the idle speed screw for the choke? Does it have a screw head in the middle of the knob?
skidrow Posted June 16, 2008 Author #5 Posted June 16, 2008 NOT THIS IS ABSOLUTLEY THE CHOKE....PULL OUT IDLE GOES UP AND MOTER RUNS GOOD, PUSH IN AND IDLE GOES DOWN....NO TWIST OR TURN. EVEN HAS THE CHOKE SYMBOL ON IT. sOME CRAZY CAJUN PUT THE CARBS ON 180 DERGRESS OUT ? I ALWAYS WONDERED CAUSE MY RSTD HAD IT ON THE LEFT , BUT THIS ONE IS ON THE RIGHT.

SilvrT Posted June 16, 2008 #8 Posted June 16, 2008 All the ones made for europe are on the opposite side....
Squeeze Posted June 16, 2008 #9 Posted June 16, 2008 All the ones made for europe are on the opposite side.... I doubt that. I've never seen a newer Bike with the Choke Knob, Cable or Lver being on the right Side. It doesn't make Sense. Even on 'left handed' Bike, the Throttle is on the right Handlebar. So, when adjusting the Choke, you need the left Hand to operate Choke while the right Hand is on the Throttle.
Kregerdoodle Posted June 16, 2008 #10 Posted June 16, 2008 Way to go Dan...now you made every body start that thinking thang!! and you know how bad that can be!!! LOL
lonestarmedic Posted June 16, 2008 #11 Posted June 16, 2008 I think that you should have this looked at. It may cause problems down the road. I am thinking of stress on castings, rubber boots etc. I would start documenting now. If the carbs are installed backwards, how about fuel lines etc.? JB
SaltyDawg Posted June 16, 2008 #12 Posted June 16, 2008 Heck what I want to know is what is your fuel mileage? LOL maybe it's better with them on backwards.:rotf:
V7Goose Posted June 16, 2008 #13 Posted June 16, 2008 If you are not pulling our collective legs, I'd be concerned with that strange thing ya got there. The biggest issue is that all these carbs do NOT use the same jets, so if they were mounted backward (don't even know if that is possible), then there is more fouled up than the choke! Goose
hipshot Posted June 16, 2008 #14 Posted June 16, 2008 Skidrow. i ain't saying that i don't believe you, but Texicans have been known to tell some "tall tails", in the past! got any pictures? lol just jt
ahoutzer Posted June 16, 2008 #15 Posted June 16, 2008 Are you sure you're facing the front of the bike?
skidrow Posted June 16, 2008 Author #16 Posted June 16, 2008 Kbay Can Verify It. He Noticed It On Mine First Time He Saw It At A Breakfast Get Together. It Really Is On The Right Side. No tall Texican Tales Here, Except For What I Posted Last Night.

I always thought it was opposite side too!
KiteSquid Posted June 16, 2008 #18 Posted June 16, 2008 You got an error bike!! It might be worth MILLIONS to a collector:stirthepot:
Redneck Posted June 16, 2008 #19 Posted June 16, 2008 I'm thinking there may be some Louisiana oregano involved with this situation.
Guest Ken8143 Posted June 17, 2008 #20 Posted June 17, 2008 Are you sure you're facing the front of the bike? Ouch!! that hurts
az1103 Posted June 17, 2008 #21 Posted June 17, 2008 You sure it's not on "the other right":confused24:
1BigDog Posted June 17, 2008 #22 Posted June 17, 2008 Maybe its the "Katrina" version of the RSV. Could have been a flood repair gone bad too....unless its April 1st and I slept through the past year......
