BigD Posted June 16, 2008 #1 Posted June 16, 2008 Well this weekend I did a very stupid thing, I pushed up on the handle bars on the end to move the bike. In doing this is snapped the Kuryakyn grip on the left side. I tried to super glue it with no success. Kurayakyn doesn't sell just the one grip I found out. Dose anyone have a set they would like to sell? Or, can think of a way to fix the broken one. The Kuryakyn part number is 6235. Thanks for any help. BigD
BOO Posted June 16, 2008 #2 Posted June 16, 2008 I have one extra grip. Would have to go find it but I do know where it is. What does yours look like? Gimme some dimensions and I will see it it will work for you. Free for the postage.... I don't know what the model is. Jerry
Eck Posted June 16, 2008 #3 Posted June 16, 2008 I think I have one good grip, but not sure if it is the left or right one. I am here at work right now, but will look when I get home to see which one I have. I think it is the left one but not positive... If BOO cant help you, just send me an email.......
BigD Posted June 16, 2008 Author #4 Posted June 16, 2008 It is the left grip. Not sure of the size, but I do know the part number Kuryakyn part number is 6235. Thanks a lot for your offer. Didn't know what to do at first, but then I remembered my VR family. Thanks for even checking for me. BigD

Condor Posted June 16, 2008 #6 Posted June 16, 2008 BigD, The one I have at home IS part number: 6235 I just dont know if it is th eleft or right one that I have ., Just guessing here, but I think the left side is 1"ID and the right side is 1.25 to take the throttle tube. Do I win????
Sailboarder Posted June 16, 2008 #7 Posted June 16, 2008 Interesting.... a year or so I broke my left grip too. It sounds like the same grip. I think the problem is when installing the grip you need to move some of the other stuff to make sure the grip goes on the handle bar a little further. This way when you pull on the grip at the end, you are also pulling the handle bare and not just the grip... as you found out... they snap off.
BigD Posted June 16, 2008 Author #8 Posted June 16, 2008 I think you are exactly right Sailboarder. There is a area on the grip that does not cover the bar, and this is where it snapped. When I replace it I will be sure to work it all the way up. Thanks for the tip.
Eck Posted June 16, 2008 #9 Posted June 16, 2008 Just guessing here, but I think the left side is 1"ID and the right side is 1.25 to take the throttle tube. Do I win???? You passed the test... now if I only have the grip you need.......
Eck Posted June 16, 2008 #10 Posted June 16, 2008 BigD, I checked and found that I do have a left Kuryakyn grip, hpwever the black rubber piece is damaged just a litte bit, and the chrome part has some glue spots on it from where the previous owner applied a little to much glue. Telling it like it is: It is not perfect, but will work in a pinch. If you want it you can have it..just send me your address and I will ship it to you.
BOO Posted June 16, 2008 #11 Posted June 16, 2008 Okay that is the same style as I have but the grip I have is a throttle grip and I'm not sure what it fits, my best guess is HD. It has 1 inch inside diameter and a single push pull set up. I bought it for the palm lever, paid $5 at a swap meet for the whole thing and the lever is about $16 at most dealers. Eck, Keep in mind that I have this grip if someone is looking for one. Jerry
rod Posted June 17, 2008 #12 Posted June 17, 2008 FYI there is a plastic spacer that is suppose to go on the end to fill the gap between the bar end and grip end. A piece of PVC pipe ( 3/4" I think will work). Good luck Rod
BigD Posted June 17, 2008 Author #13 Posted June 17, 2008 Hey Eck, I think I could replace the black rubber pieces with the ones off the broken one. The glue area I could place at the bottom? Either way, I really appreciate your generous offer. Please let me know what I owe you, and I will drop a check in the mail. Thanks Again, BigD
