I was just on the Star page and saw the new 1649cc fuel injected V-4. Does anybody think these new powerplants will find there way in next years RSTD and Ventures?

I was at the Stealership over the weekend and the service manager was touting the V-max.. he also mentioned hope for the V-max engine to be in the 2010 model year Ventures & RSTD. I wonder what the MSRP is going to be though... they're not exactly giving the V-max away at $17.9K

My hope is that they would...and it also makes sense that they would. After all, Yamaha has some $ tied up in the new VMax powerplant...and one way to get that investment back is to use it in other models to improve their return on investment. The Venture is a great touring motorcycle in need of a few tweaks here and there. If I had a vote on the matter I would vote "yes."

I would bet that they will hold off to the 2010 model year as that is when the new EPA Tier 2 emissions regulations come into effect. The current bike does not pass, but a bike with EFI would!!!!!!

I looked up the 2009 line-up and no venture or rstd. I bet they are going to be back in 2010 with the new V-4. That works out perfect because my 2007 will be wore out by then!!:cool10:

There probably will be no 2009 model so that they can purge any remaining 2008's from production well in advance, thus making a new, 2010 model more attractive and sellable at a higher price tag... (just a wild guess here)

Of course a higher price! Would you expect anything less? I just hope they will fix some of the problems we have now before creating a whole new batch!:mo money:

Ok, so why not make it an anniversary model? With all the new features needed etc, 2009 is the 10 year anniversary of the RSV!?

:backinmyday:

Yamaha is missing out on a good marketing thang!

I think that you may be right but I hope not. If that is the case, then the only NEW bike that will really appeal to me is the Harley Ultra. I think it would be music to the ears of our first gen owners though who never liked the cruiser styling of the RSV.

By the way, I was driving along Route 33 just east of Weston, WV today and there was a Vision riding in the lane beside me. First time I had actually seen one expect in pictures. I really wasn't sure from looking at the pictures whether or not I liked the style. I can pretty much say for sure now that I honestly don't. Just not a bike for me.

Saw one making a left at an intersection about 3 weeks ago... 2 weekends ago I was at a bike shop that sells them...there were 2 outside that folks owned and one on display inside... now that I've had my "close-up" .... nope!... not for me brother!

.. not to hi jack the thread or anything... but I sat on Vision a couple weeks ago,.. and even though I don't care for the looks it was nice once perched on top. It's not as heavy as it looks, all the buttons, brake and clutch reservoirs were low profile, fairing way up front giving the bike a spacious feel. ... I was impressed. Until I opened the side bag(s)... room enough in there for a box of tissues.. that's about it. The other side bag wouldn't open... the plastics are cheap on that thing.. like Kawasaki Voyager cheap. I'd buy it for $13K but for $22K?... forgetaboutit. HD is a better value in my humble and useless opinion.:starz:

My prediction is its not going to look like a 2nd Gen. Maybe a hybrid along the lines of a Victory Vision or possibly Goldwing like.

THEY DIDN'T CHANGE THAT MUCH ON THE V-MAX SOO HOPEFULLY THEY WON'T MESS WITH THE STYLE JUST ALL THE LITTLE THINGS THAT NEED TO CHANGE.:fingers-crossed-emo

I have to agree besides Yamaha already created the replacement for the 1st gen and thats the FJR 1300. tha was the second reason I bought my 85 so many similar styling que's

I'm kinda of mixed on the Vision at first I didn't like it. Now I saw one driving it didnt look too bad its kinda of a meld of Goldwing and classic look. I'm kinda of changing my mind about it. I never sat on one or drove one so I dont know about its quality.

The FJR is competing against ST1300 and Kawi Concours in sport touring class smaller version of the touring class. I like the looks of the FJR but I prefer the V4 motor of 1st and 2nd Gen's. The FJR needs to be bigger and more passenger friendly and need a radio if I went a got a sport tourer it would probably be a Concours instead of the FJR.

Squeez pointed out to me, the Torque rateing on this new V-Max engine.

I haven't found a posted HP rateing as yet.

However the Torque is far above a Hyabusa. This is why Squeez,

wants one. ( You know, the German Autoban, etc. etc. etc. )

The new Max, will weigh about 167 lb. more then a Hyabusa.

BUT,----With the added Torque and HP, this thing will have Unbelievable Performance. I'm waiting to see what the "Zero -to- 60 MPH "

times on a drag strip will be.

I call my 99 Hyabusa, a " Death Machine " ( 2.6 sec 0-60 times)

This new V-Max, will be the " Devils, Death Machine "

( zero to 60 time ????? ) Anybody heard what it is ??

This is a Drag Strip Machine !!!

It's 197 hp and 129+ ftlbs Torque or 202 PS/ 174 Nm

here's the VMAX Microsite

I wanted one, badly. But when i saw the Specs, i was sort of disappointed in regard to the Price called for. But eventually, i will be in Swiss on Saturday to take a close Look at the Bike. Might be hard to justify that much of Money, but on the other Hand, Life is short...

No Times heard, yet. Rumours from the Test Riders say something like mid Niners. This Beast is build for the Drag Strip, but seem to corner very well.

Workin for a dealership and no info till Sept. on the new 2009s .... Its hard to say if there will be any Ventures or RSTD .... There also isnt any Raider listed But im 100% sure there will be as its been a good seller ....

I agree with George, for such a Purpose, a Hayabusa is as right enough as the the new Vmax.

On the other Hand, when riding with intend to Die, why not do it with some extra Class ??

Motorcycles don't kill people,.. people kill people... or something like that.:255:

I'd take the busa over the v-max any day... at least you can set a busa up for touring. And I think it looks better too.
