JeffC Posted June 17, 2008 Share #26 Posted June 17, 2008 I rode I-44 Friday from Springfield to Joplin in a serious downpour and I absolutely hated the venoms. On the dry stuff, they have been great, but they were skittish as heck in the rain. I'm going to Alaska next year, and I'll run another tire for sure. Not sure which ones though? saddlebum Posted June 19, 2008 Share #27 Posted June 19, 2008 My 1st gen has dunlop elite II 491's on it but they are coming due they have had excellent wear and ride but I wondered if the avons gave better road traction specially in the rain. since the wheels are off and I am rebuilding the bike from the accident I decided to replace tires and wheel bearings while they were off. just having trouble deciding on which tire. SledgeHammer Posted June 20, 2008 Share #28 Posted June 20, 2008 OK, has anyone else paid $335 to remove old MC tires, balance and install new Vernon's for the RSV??? Just a question. No high jack just curious. Moakster I paid $349.62 for a set of Venoms 2 weeks ago before going to Freebird's maintenance day. They actually charged more for the MT90 front tire than for the stock size 150-80/16. Sure like the handling though. BTW, that is $75 more than the same shop charged me last June for a set of Michelin Commanders installed. It remains to be seen whether it is worth $75 difference to me. There is some improvement in handling, but the real story to me will be how many miles I get on the Venoms.
