bpate4home Posted April 17 #1 Posted April 17 I've always been a little frustrated when the oil drain plugs are in a location where you cannot get a torque wrench. The 2018 Venture has 3 drain plugs and 2 are close enough to the frame where getting a socket on them is impossible unless you have very low profile wabble sockets. I saw this in a YouTube video and ordered one off of amazon. I have not had a chance to try it as my bike is in the shop for a fuel leak. Has anyone seen it and had a chance to use it?
N3FOL Posted Tuesday at 12:52 AM #2 Posted Tuesday at 12:52 AM I honestly have not seen one of those specialized tool, but it is quite interesting to see it work on the SVTC. FWIW, I have been changing oil since I've owned my very first car and I've never used a torque wrench to tighten the oil drain bolt. When it comes to wheel lug nuts, axle bolt and such...I do use a torque wrench.

I joke to my non-mechanic friends when I'm teaching them how to fix their cars of "German Torque Specs" for drain plugs and non-critical fasteners.... Guten-tight Yeah, I thought I was getting them Guten tight but I developed a leak on one of the drain plugs. Kept telling myself not tight enough. I actually drained the Oil and replaced the crush washers. Right now the bike is in the shop for a fuel pump. I will put this on it and see how close I am. 1
N3FOL Posted Tuesday at 11:16 PM #5 Posted Tuesday at 11:16 PM I like that idea. Guten tight and a new crush washer every time. 1
