megamile Posted March 28 #1 Posted March 28 Long trike day last week; drove to KY to visit Hannigan factory. Drove through storm front that should have been short; lasted through entire state of TN. 3\4 of the way through trike started misfiring, running porly, and lost acceleration. I am assuming that water got through either plug wires or ignition coils; as I pulled in to get fuel issue calmed down until I got back into rain. Next day things dried out and trike went back to running normally after awhile. Might should not have kept running but had nowhere to find wires and/or coils, or dry place to work. Thinking of replacing plugs, wires, and coils anyway (also changing oil on the off chance that unburned fuel managed to get by rings). Wondering if there is any way to increase waterproofing on these critical parts, as I seem to run in the rain quite a bit... On my 2005 RSTD I had a constant problem first year with rear coils and misfires; factory rep after months of troubleshooting scratched head and recommended aftermarket coils and wires, and coil relocation. Wondering if I should also do that here. Any advice? Thank you in advance, as always...
Marcarl Posted March 29 #2 Posted March 29 I would think that replacing the wires and the ends should do the trick,, don't go cheap, get good stuff.
