tex_waco_usmc Posted Friday at 06:43 PM Posted Friday at 06:43 PM ok, someone help me figure out what I’ve done wrong… bike fires and runs on its own fuel now after 10 years of sitting in a garage and a carb cleaning and new kits. But I’m leaking fuel from the area in the picture below. Someone please help me figure out what I screwed up…
lmgk77 Posted Friday at 07:52 PM Posted Friday at 07:52 PM (edited) BTW my bike is a 2007 RSTD. When I rebuilt my carbs I experienced the same leak, it just poured. As you see its just a slip fit. The material is a firm rubber compound. After a frustrated do over of assembly R/R of that part I found a very small split on the backside of this "T" fitting, +/- 1/16", it just poured. I finally replaced it and cured that leak. When this part was ordered, it took almost 3 months from Yamaha of Japan. Edited Friday at 07:56 PM by lmgk77

However, if I’ve followed the carb section of the manual properly that’s a fuel overflow and it shouldn’t be leaking at all from there. But mine is coming out of the actual fitting itself where it’s not connected to anything. I’m thinking I’ve got a float not floating or stuck open, but I could be wrong.
RDawson Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Look at the needle and seat along with the float itself. 1

I’m going to remove the “T” fitting from between the carbs and run it to figure out which one is pushing fuel and then I’m going to disassemble again and check needle, valve and float. My guess is the float isnt floating as the needle and valve are new but until I open it back up I can’t be for sure. 1
