Steve S Posted January 20 #1 Posted January 20 Good morning Venture Riders. It's a brisk sunny 9 degrees in Hopkinsville Kentucky this morning. I do believe it would be a wonderful idea to fire the bike up and go for a ride. Oh WAIT, I still have a broken ankle, and I can't ride yet. 😢 I guess I will have to wait a few more weeks so I can put my boots on and ride. 😁 2
Freebird Posted January 20 #2 Posted January 20 Brutal. 2 degrees here. Supposed to drop to 0 tonight and -10 tomorrow night. 3
sleepy2 Posted January 20 #3 Posted January 20 -15cel(5deg F) here in Ontario Canada! Just got in from plowing sidewalks and lane-ways(12) Had snow-suit on but didn't help much! 3
bpate4home Posted January 20 #4 Posted January 20 Not as cold as y'all but should get down to about 17 here in the Houston area. Also, Snow 4 - 6" which they just don't see here. They are putting Brine on the roads. I have to try and fly out Wednesday morning, should be interesting. 3
Woody Posted January 20 #5 Posted January 20 it was 18 when I got up this morning too cold to ride, but I keep this fire place warm today 🥶 3
PastorCurt Posted January 21 #6 Posted January 21 If we don’t have at least one -20° night, we haven’t had winter!!🥶 2 2
uncledj Posted Tuesday at 10:14 AM #7 Posted Tuesday at 10:14 AM Underground water line to my brothers apartment froze up......When I put that line in 15 years ago I had one point where the tree roots were pretty thick / crazy so I only buried it about 16" at that point. I sure hope it thaws before May. 3

I sure hope it thaws before May. Growing up in NE Ohio we always put the water lines at least 32" underground. My dad was a pipefitter at Ford so we put the majority at 40". When we moved to Houston area about 20 years ago our first house had the main water line in iron pipe coming out of the ground and then into the house. To top that off the hot water tank was in the attic. I asked the realtor what idiot was doing this type of work and she said that's how it's done here. 1

It makes life better now but takes forever to wash the roads in the spring!
dueyk1111 Posted Saturday at 01:12 PM #15 Posted Saturday at 01:12 PM what i meant was i don't ride on salt covered roads cause it takes to long to get the salt washed off the bike. if you can get it washed off. went against my rule of not rid'n when there is salt on the road a few years back on christmas day, it actually got warm enough to ride around here. when i got home that day you couldn't tell what color my bike was. spent 2 days n probably 30 dollars at the next town overs car was with the bike on the trailer try'n to make sure i got all the salt washed out of the nooks n crannies on the bike. vowed to never do that again when there is salt on the road!!!!😧🤣 1

uncledj Posted 9 hours ago #17 Posted 9 hours ago Rode my old CB750F through a few miles of 4" deep saltwater, riding from Key Largo up to the mainland. Probably 3 miles or so. It tarnished all the aluminum. Was never the same again. That was on Cardsound Rd. It was the only other route besides US1. I rode that way a lot, but never again when there were heavy rains / flooding. 1
