KoboldWrangler Posted November 1 #1 Posted November 1 Hello-- First question, what was v-daze? I assume it was a bike show that was mainly aimed at the venture bikes? I was reading up on the tugs intake system, when I saw someone mention v-daze. I own an '88 1300, and it was hand pinstriped by who someone in the pinstripe community thinks is called scarecrow, at one of the v-daze events. I didnt make the connection until I saw mention of it here. Does anyone have any film scans of the v-daze shows from either 89 or 95? The log book I got with the bike has a mention of getting an award at "the show", and I think itd be cool to see of pic of the bike from way back in the day.
Freebird Posted November 1 #2 Posted November 1 There used to be a group named VTS. Stood for Venture Touring Society. After the Venture was discontinued after 1993 in an effort to keep it going, they changed their name to the MTA, Motorcycle Touring Association. The big yearly rally was V-Daze. Many of our original members here were members there also. Heck, at one time I was president of the MTA. They called it quits a good while back; I don’t remember but maybe 10 years ago. They were great group and were once sponsored by Yamaha. They used to give away a new Venture at their rally each year and one year even gave away two. It was sad to see them fade away. 2
Freebird Posted November 1 #3 Posted November 1 By the way. Most old school bikers will remember Scarecrow. He was a well known and respected pinstriper back in the day. Your post brings back a lot of good memories. 2

Well that answers another question of mine -- on the back where it should say venture royale, someone replaced it with VTS. I wish i had a name of the owner back in the day that I could associate with this bike, maybe figure out if they are still around or not. Cool to hear that they were sponsored by yamaha as well.
