Seat height for shorty's

Hey all, any short folks out there riding Ventures? I'm only 5-6 and it's a concern. After a Venture deal, out of town fell thru, I look at a few local GL1500 Gold Wings. I barely fit on them. I could barely get the balls of my feet on the ground and decided it isn't going to work. It seemed doable on hard pavement, but God forbid if I was trying to park those things in a dirt or gravel parking lot, there'd be a very good chase, I'd be on the ground...

There are somethings that can be done to lower the seat height depending on the year, 1st gen, or 2nd gen. Sometimes the front can be lower as well as the rear, and a person could take some foam out of the seat cushion as well. I do think it would be trial and error somewhat. Hopefully someone as tall as you might have some real life ideas.

I have a 2018 (Gen 3) and I'm 5'7 on a good day.  It actually fits well with the factory seats. I'm almost flat footed.  I had a Gen 2, '06, and it was OK.  1 foot solid on the ground and one on the toes. That was also a factory seat.  I bought that one second hand so I don't recall if it was ever 'lowered'.

Baron’s sells a lowering kit for the rear of a 2nd gen, you can lower the front bey slide the forks up the triple tree.

The lowering kit is via changing out the dog bones on the mono shock?

Yes, longer dog bones lower the bike. The kit also comes with a caliper relocation bracket that puts the caliper below the swingarm without that you’ll wipe out the fender.
