What I'm messaging for is you said you had a bike stand. Is yours from Princess Auto? If yes and looks like my pictures What holes and position do you have yours set? Mine is not the same as yours. but I do have the front pocket set so that it sits centered to the same height as the axle with the rear saddle adjusted so the wheel is not touching the ground. However seeing as how your front pocket is on a swivel I would be tempted to set it higher as long as the tire does not roll in so deep as to come in contact with the upright or the ground.
N3FOL Posted November 12 Author #102 Posted November 12 That bike stand looks like it has to be bolted to the ground.
sleepy2 Posted November 13 #103 Posted November 13 @N3FOLthere is nothing in instructions for that but might be for mounting in trailer! Could also use to stabilize! Would probably only use to check oil levels and maybe change oil!
sleepy2 Posted November 13 #104 Posted November 13 @saddlebumdon't think mine will fit as picture shows and also distance from front to back mount looks too short to hold tire. Might think about modification to make fit or see if I can get money back. Still have box and receipt. They are pretty good at exchange! 1
sleepy2 Posted November 13 #105 Posted November 13 @N3FOL I agree and we both checked U-Tube and car forum and alot of them had hard time getting hub off. One guy even used oxy/acceteline torches but no luck! @Marcarls tool did work to get hub loosened up but would have taken more parts to take off (spline of front wheel drive was stopping it from comming off) and was worried about getting $220can part to line up. If hub remover from Canadian Tire would have fit we could have gotten it out with slide hammer. Taking to mechanic I know and will cost $100 labor and $200 parts to replace (dropping off tonight after son gets off work) get done Thursday. Son will take other part back to get money back. (Mechanic would put part on but no warranty, his part would have 2 years 40,000klm.) 2

On my end, since I do not have a bike stand for my '07, I purchased an extension mechanics mirror to check my oil level while sitting on the bike upright. Best of all, I can change oil on the RSV without jacking it up. I really love the simplicity of it.

They are pretty good at exchange! Once you modify that piece, it might be a point of 'no return'. If you like the outcome or dislike how it turned out, then you are stuck with it. If I were on your shoes, return it and shop around more. A company may have the perfect product you are looking for. At the end of the day, it is your choice.
sleepy2 Posted November 15 #108 Posted November 15 @N3FOLOnly taking back if I don't modify! It is just an option I was thinking of doing!
sleepy2 Posted November 15 #109 Posted November 15 Son got his hub replaced $550 after work and hub changed! Car feels much better! 1

I have two different styles that are a closer fit than that. One is actually easy to makeca copy of. Which also goes to say it would probably be no more work maybe even easier to build from scratch than to modify that one. Edited November 15 by saddlebum
sleepy2 Posted November 15 #111 Posted November 15 @saddlebumI was thinking same thing if I was modifying! Easier to make one than modify then if doesn't work then I can take it back! But it doesn't look like it might not have enough room to fit wheel in place! Will have to see after I get my tractors ready for winter!

If you had the SVTC, it might have fitted perfectly since the front tire is smaller at 130/70-R18.
sleepy2 Posted November 19 #114 Posted November 19 Would have thought of buying the new Venture but price in Canada was outrageous! Wouldn't be able to persuade Phantom Wife! Liked power( got to demo it at New York Rally when it came out!Dealer had one in stock for us to try!) Style was good, overall good bike! Mostly didn't like belt drive and V-twin!
N3FOL Posted November 19 Author #115 Posted November 19 @sleepy2 Even with the V-Twin, it has a lot of power and I like it whenever you might need the power. To be honest, the belt drive does not really bother me since it does last a very long time/miles. I like both. My '07 and '18 are keepers. Keep an eye out and don't stop looking and always be on the good side of the boss.
N3FOL Posted November 22 Author #116 Posted November 22 Good evening to all. If you are a football fan, TNF is on. Steelers vs Browns. Enjoy the night.
Chaharly Posted November 22 #117 Posted November 22 Morning Yall! Another lovely day at work! Going to be too cold for riding for the next couple weeks. We'll see if we get a warm streak! In Omaha at least!
sleepy2 Posted November 22 #118 Posted November 22 @N3FOLI agree the V-twin has power! It was mostly the belt drive as I had NO luck with my Road Star 1600 (2000 year) that went thru 3 belts in season and a half at over $800 can each time (parts and labor)was glad to get back on a 2012 Venture that year. As for keeping eye open for a newer one for keeping on good side of the boss ,I think I ALWAYS do but doesn't seem to help over the past 47 years so have NO expectations on any change in the future( was told back when I got this one as my future retirement bike) 1
RDawson Posted November 23 #119 Posted November 23 Not really newer but definitely not worn out. This one is for sale locally, he started out around $7k several months ago. I’m not looking for one but if the price keeps dropping I may have to. I just don’t want to start over since I’ve gone through mine and preemptively fixed all the known issues and added all the extras I wanted. And yes that is the correct mileage 6700. 2

That is probably the lowest mileage I've seen on an '08. Wow! As far as the price is concerned, I think he has to go 'lower', since the bike may have a lot of issues and a lot of garage time fixing the issues. I am interested though as to how low he will go.

I’ve been watching since it went on the market. I knew the owner as kids but haven’t talked to him in over 40 years. I’m sure a lot of rubber parts will need replaced. It’ll have to go way lower before I even talk to him. I’ll probably not be really interested anyway. 1

Wow 6700, I sold my 06 with 106,000 for 5K 5 - 6 years ago.
N3FOL Posted November 26 Author #123 Posted November 26 Enjoying MNF and some online games and playing radio. Good evening to all.
N3FOL Posted November 26 Author #124 Posted November 26 Hope your mid-morning is going well. 2 more days before Turkey Day! 1
Chaharly Posted November 26 #125 Posted November 26 Good morning here. Writing some easements for waterlines in a subdivision right now and getting excited to start cooking this turkey tonight! Anyone have any big plans for the holiday?
