LeesBike Posted August 2 #1 Posted August 2 So I bought a bike to get me back on riding a bike after new knees. Wife loves the idea. I found a Very nice bike for cheap 2400 miles, because it only idled. Wound not move. Im rebuilding the clogged up carbs now, but THEN I need to replace the tires. Rear wont hold air Size rear 180/55 zr 17 front 150/60 zr 17 On wire wheels. Been on bike since new. 4 into 4 bub pipes. These tires seem Too low. I like the big soft tires the bikes originally had. What size (and brand/model if you wish) should I put on these lovely 17" wheels? Tubes?
LeesBike Posted August 2 Author #2 Posted August 2 Wish I could show you my new bike, but, I'm a trial member.

LeesBike Posted August 3 Author #5 Posted August 3 No, similar, but not mine. Mine has wire wheels and is an 01
Du-Rron Posted August 4 #6 Posted August 4 An '01 Yamaha Royal Star Boulevard with 17" wheels? I can't find such an animal. Don't say it doesn't exist, I just cant find it.
LeesBike Posted August 5 Author #7 Posted August 5 Yep, I'm kinda wondering too. It was sold to the first owner by a second dealer, with 72 miles on it, in 2001. It was knocked over in a burglury or some stuff...Then, the owner that I bought if from had it from 72 miles till I bought it. Seventeen inch wire wheels, funny tire sizes, and the full 4 outlet BuB exhaust.
Du-Rron Posted August 5 #8 Posted August 5 Well... your choices are fit OE or aftermarket wheels/tires or just put some 17's on it (which are very easy to find )
LeesBike Posted September 17 Author #9 Posted September 17 Had to replace the rear 17" wire wheel with a stock original. Rear wheel was defective (it was not correct size on ID of bead), and had a story of its own. I took it to the metals recycling yard so no one tried to mount another tire on it. 1
