Won’t drive in gear after tire blow out…

Recommended Posts

1998 Yamaha royal star 1300 Hey everybody, wondering if anybody might have some help putting me in the right direction getting my bike fixed. Blew my rear tire the other day on the interstate after a few tail whips, I made it “safely” to the side of the road. The tire partially came off of the rim and I was not able to push the motorcycle due to the tire position on the rim.

walked home I grabbed a floor jack strapped it to rear seat of another one of my motorcycles went back to my stranded bike. Once there I removed the rear rim from the motorcycle so I could get the tire replaced. I strapped the rim to my motorcycle seat and I went and got new tire put on rim.

i made it back to my stranded bike and installed the new tire. Bike started just fine I squeezed my clutch lever I  shifted into first gear I released my clutch lever gave it some throttle and nothing happened bike revved but did not move after about an hour of shift 2 step tango … up down up down up up down down down up I’m was left still stranded not receiving any acceleration out of the motorcycle regardless of gear I shifted into.

It seems like the bike is still in neutral but i feel the clutch pressure when squeezing the hand lever I feel and hear the click when changing gears but nothing happens when I try to accelerate. Bike doesn’t stall either if I don’t throttle after releasing clutch the bike still idles.
So if this happened to you where would you start looking and troubleshooting I currently made it back home and I have the bike on lift with rear tire lifted. I can spin rear tire  freely in neutral. After shifting gears I can still spin rear tire but with resistance. I see the shaft spinning as I turn the tire. I’m at a stand still now Any help would be much appreciated
