Motorcycle Mike Posted April 3, 2024 #1 Posted April 3, 2024 I just got a confirmation from PayPal that my Bitcoin purchase of $890.90 was complete. I did not buy any bit coin. The e-mail phone# and PayPal# don't match and we found no such activity on our CC. We will continue to monitor our CC. Be wary folks. 2
BratmanXj Posted April 3, 2024 #2 Posted April 3, 2024 Hover over the link with your mouse and it will most likely show that it goes to a "bogus" website and not PayPal. The NAME on the email it came from might show PayPal but the actual sender is not from PayPal. Its a Pishing Scam, where they lure to to a website so they can snag your log-in information and take your account. This is why 2-Factor authentication is recommended for sensitive log-ins; the ones where you punch in your password, then get a text/email with a code to verify its you. 1
RDawson Posted April 3, 2024 #3 Posted April 3, 2024 I get those a few times a year, I never open the email or click any links. If I’m questioning anything I log into PayPal to check my account. 1
M61A1MECH Posted April 4, 2024 #4 Posted April 4, 2024 Forward the email to PayPal using this address, spoof@paypal.com .
ReinyRooster Posted April 4, 2024 #5 Posted April 4, 2024 I like the ones that I am getting from a specific bank ( that I have never had an account with ) that they are suspending my charge card from that bank until I contact their security department....or pay the outstanding amount.....and then includes an email address. Do they really think people will fall for that........I suppose some do.
