1983 venture on a 3200 mile trip

I'm looking at picking up a 1983 venture 1200 that runs and drives just need rear brakes fixed for 1200$ to take from Ohio to Sacramento in a month what's ur thoughts on taking this the 3200 miles

The 83’s are plagued with a not if but when 2nd gear failure that some fix but can be ridden by skipping 2nd. There is also an issue with some frames corroding and breaking, do a search here to read up on it. That being said they are a blast to ride.
