Iowawegian Posted June 4, 2008 #1 Posted June 4, 2008 Hubby asked if I would jump on the website (we don't have internet at home) and find out from you guys if wiring from the Venture (tail lights and blinkers)to a new carrier he's made that sits behind the bike is easy or if he needs to do anything special. I'm not sure what thread I'm looking for about wiring. He's planning on doing it tonight so any help would be appreciated!
BuddyRich Posted June 4, 2008 #2 Posted June 4, 2008 Depends on the lighting on it. The RSV uses a different wire of both turns tail and brake. So if the trailer or carrier has both left and right turns plus brake and running you may need an adapter. Is he going to use a standard 4 lead trailer wiring plug for the lights on it ?
Iowawegian Posted June 4, 2008 Author #3 Posted June 4, 2008 Just gave him a jingle and he says "yes,is using a 4 lead wiring" thing a ma jig.
Iowawegian Posted June 4, 2008 Author #5 Posted June 4, 2008 He says to tell you thanks and he's ordering one right now!
kbran Posted June 4, 2008 #6 Posted June 4, 2008 If you can print at work go to this thread http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=503 and print it out for him. Will make it easy to install the modulite.
SaltyDawg Posted June 4, 2008 #7 Posted June 4, 2008 You can buy the Hoppy 5 to 4 converter from Walmart for about 12 bucks. The modulite in my opinion is a bit overboard.
Iowawegian Posted June 4, 2008 Author #8 Posted June 4, 2008 Printed out the thread and also told him about Salty Dog's comment with the 5 to 4. Whatever that means! So thanks again and we'll see if he can getter done!

So thanks again and we'll see if he can getter done! What the 5 to 4 converter does is puts the brake signal on the same wire as the turn signals. It's a small unit that can fit behind the license plate and be taken out along with the wiring harness when not needed, leaving a small 5 wire plug neatly tucked behind the license plate. Takes about 10 minutes to install and are usually pretty easy to find at Walmart.
