Guest MrPhoto1 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Ok, I just finished lowering the front end 1". Took about 6 hours because of the big thunderstorm that came through and knocking out the lights. Anyhow got it all back together and noticed that the air valves for the two front cylinders are up against the handle bars and there is no way that I can put air in the front end without removing the handle bars. Any suggestions, or did I not get it back together correctly. I really don't want to take it all apart again. Thanks. John:confused24:
AZSpyder Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I turned mine out about 45 degrees. Of course you have to take it all apart to do it. I had mine about 1/2 way back together when I noticed. At least I was much faster the second time. Jerry
Jerry W Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 If you are wanting more pull back on the bars, you can add a set of Baron's extensions and the will move the bars back approx. 1 1/2 inches and away from the valve stems. The air valve stems are the reason a lot of guys don't lower the full 1". However, I was needing the bars to pull back closer to me for comfort so I added the baron's extensions and this solved both problems. Hope this helps
BuddyRich Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Remove the handlebars and change the valves to 90's or rotate them if you can
Guest MrPhoto1 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks guys, may go with the extensions. One question though, will I need to change cables to a longer length with the Barons? John:confused24:
Maritimer Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I didn't have to change my cables but I had to re-route the ones on the right from around the fork to between them. Works great and only took a few minutes to do.
Steve S Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Don't forget to add a fork air balance kit. I added one and really feel it helps with the ride. It's made by Progressive Springs and I got mine through J&P Cycles. Let us know how it rides lowered.
Jerry W Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I didn't have to buy longer cables either, don't know about the air balance kit, this is the first I have heard of it. I will look into adding that.
Guest MrPhoto1 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 So far I love the way it rides and handles. It is like being on a smaller bike as far as handling goes. Not sure about the air kit tell me more, what advantage would it be to add the kit. Just finished syn. the carbs to where they are dead on, what a difference it makes to have this bike to handle and run like a Stripped Ass Skunk. Thanks John:rotf:
