Dano Posted June 20, 2008 #51 Posted June 20, 2008 Dan, Just curious what you meant because I noticed that the carbs on the left side were a lot dirtier and greaserir than the carbs on the other side and I'm not sure why. That seems to be where the oil mist from the breather tube off the banana/twinkie always goes because thats the kickstand side. The goo will leak out around the air box-to-carb boots and coat your carbs, collecting the floaty stuff in the air. Learnin more stuff, aren't ya'!!!! Dan

I guess that also explains why on my 87 all carbs were equally dirty since that bike has a lean stand on both sides.. When you say banana:banana:/ :cool10:twinkies are you referring to that bent rubber tube that goes from the crankcase through the carb bank to the air box that is a royall pain in the *** to hook up when reinstalling the carbs? Yea I guess an old dog :backinmyday:can learn new tricks after all. The problem is that to fit new stuff into my head I have to discard some old stuff. And kinda like my shop I hate to get rid of anything because I know as soon as I do I'll end up needing it.
Dragonslayer Posted June 20, 2008 Author #53 Posted June 20, 2008 I cleaned up the slave cylinder as good as I could before I realized that the piston walls were pitted up to bad to be usable so I guess I need to get a new one. Anyone want to buy a brand new rebuild kit. Do you have a link to the vendor that had the new part for $64.00 local Yamaha dealer wants $80.00Nevermind I found the link for Buckeye thanks anyway
Dano Posted June 20, 2008 #54 Posted June 20, 2008 When you say banana:banana:/ :cool10:twinkies are you referring to that bent rubber tube that goes from the crankcase through the carb bank to the air box that is a royall pain in the *** to hook up when reinstalling the carbs? The banana/twinkie is the long, semi-round, tube lookin, cain't figur' out what that thing does, probably gonna start leakin sometime, always in the way, what a pain to hook-up silver device that sits in the valley of the cylinders. Just about every fluid your bike has runs through here, so look for it to start seeping when you replace your valve cover gaskets, side cover gaskets and everything else that leaks. Don't ask how I know!!!!!! Dan
GigaWhiskey Posted June 20, 2008 #55 Posted June 20, 2008 I am still wondering how Yammy got that darn tube connected when the put the thing together in the first place.
