Guest Ken8143 Posted March 13, 2007 #1 Posted March 13, 2007 I put the light bar on the trunk of my 87 VR - got it from big bike barn, I think. The bulbs in it are a paltry 3 watt, and it just does not show up well in day light., I have it all apart now and want to install led lights, perhaps with a dual element circuit to have the combo of running/stop lights. I want the stop lights to be BRIGHT. Any idea of where I can get them? Got some from Auto Zone. Not much better. AND - if this has been talked about aready, forgive me and just point me to the right thread!
Guest ReinyRooster Posted March 13, 2007 #2 Posted March 13, 2007 Ken, I have the same bike with the same light bar with the same question. Was never impressed with those lights and wanna do the same thing, so I'll be watching here to get some advice.
DANJ Posted March 13, 2007 #3 Posted March 13, 2007 http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3598&page=4 I thought I remebered this very interesting thread. Try this, Dan
Guest Ken8143 Posted March 14, 2007 #4 Posted March 14, 2007 Thanks Dan for the thread. And I am looking at some flexible lights from www.radianz.com, what they call hardcore lighting. They have a variety of strip, flexible led, a bit pricey but I may just go ahead and get it.
mbrood Posted March 14, 2007 #5 Posted March 14, 2007 You can double the number of wedge bulb holders like I did, and then change over to multiple LEDs from superbrightleds.com (use the cone type for illumination out the side...) Or you can clip the existing ones out and mount some LED strings inside. It's yours, get inventive and have fun... Just remember that these are a real bear to get into (hot glue) so double check your wiring and make sure everything is locked down and solid.
Guest Ken8143 Posted March 24, 2007 #6 Posted March 24, 2007 Well folks I put in two 25-led strips from radianz thinking this would make you sit up and take notice when you put the brakes on. You CAN see then when it is overcast - I am waiting for a sunny day. I think the lens cuts down on the light coming through. Right now I am done spending money on this project.
