Black Owl Posted June 1, 2008 #1 Posted June 1, 2008 Tried to down load one of my camera flash cards. The card shows I have photos stored on it, but I am getting an error message saying the card or file is corrupted and they can't be opened. Is there anyway to save the photos that are on the card? Need real simple instructions........... Thanks in advance Russell
BEER30 Posted June 1, 2008 #2 Posted June 1, 2008 Russel , Does the camera have a cable to hook up to the computer ? If so , try downloading it with the cable . I sometimes get occasionally a prompt that my SD card needs to be formatted on my laptop with a few of my cards , so I have to use the cable too . BEER30
Tatonka Posted June 1, 2008 #3 Posted June 1, 2008 Hi Black Owl, You always have good info for us, so I'm sure we can find a way to help you. Just some questions to try to establish the problem: Are you downloading from the camera to computer or are you using another device such as a card reader or printer? Have you always used the card with the same camera or did you use it with another camera or device? Can you see the pictures when the card is in the camera? Did you add pictures to the card by way of a data transfer? Are there different formats on the card (jpeg, pcx, wav or video)? Does the capacity of the card not exceed the maximum size of your camera? I'm sure if we have that info, someone can help.
BradT Posted June 2, 2008 #4 Posted June 2, 2008 Just curious is your VCR blinking 12:00:sign20: Seriously I have a problem with my card reader as well (I did something to it), and can not fix it, have to use the cord Brad
rod Posted June 2, 2008 #5 Posted June 2, 2008 When I had that problem and nothing worked to retrieve the pics a Friend told me about a recovery program. It is called "Handy Recovery" it was cheap and worked really well and is easy to learn. It has worked for 99% of the files I used it on. Good luck Rod
Black Owl Posted June 2, 2008 Author #6 Posted June 2, 2008 Thanks guys. One of the best things about this site is that no matter how off the wall the question, someone will have a viable answer. Took Rod's advice and checked out Handy Recovery. Unfortunately, that program was not capable of pulling up all the photos. BUT, when I did a program comparison, I cam across a program called PhotoRecovery. Ran a demo on that one and it was able to pull up all the photos. So, thaks to this great group, my problem has been solved and I did not need to go back out and reshoot everything. And No Brad, my VCR is not blinking 12:00. That's what Duct tape was made for.....
BradT Posted June 3, 2008 #7 Posted June 3, 2008 And No Brad, my VCR is not blinking 12:00. That's what Duct tape was made for..... It maybe blinking, but you just can't see it. Oh if the VCR is Black try electrical tape it will blend in better. Brad
Tatonka Posted June 4, 2008 #8 Posted June 4, 2008 Glad you were able to get some helpful advice. Wish you good shooting!
Condor Posted June 4, 2008 #9 Posted June 4, 2008 Are you using a flash card reader, or dedicated software and an interface USB cable??
