Squidley Posted June 4, 2008 #51 Posted June 4, 2008 10-4 on nixing the fork seal project, means more time to lend a hand and meet people!!!!!! Your in Ohio, close enough for some of the Michigan members to come down to your place and give a hand with the forks. There will be lots of info too, it's going to be a great day but it will go by FAST! On a more serious note, I had planned on showing how to do a valve adjustment on my bike, as the gaskets are fresh and I know it won't leak after putting her back together. Just a quick run through on how to use the tool and feeler gauges, how to remove and replace a shim and recheck. I knew I didn't want to take all day, as I got cheesecake to eat!!!!!! Thanks for the reminder, though, as I'm sure that we can become consumed by this stuff. Dan Dan, I know what a PIA the valve covers are to get off in the bike, not a fun job at all and pretty time consuming. I know many appreciate the effort of it and thank you for wanting to help the members out
Yammer Dan Posted June 4, 2008 #52 Posted June 4, 2008 Seen some of the results of Lona's polishing chrome that has been sitting a while (like my entire bike) not a maint day thing but what does she use besides large amounts of elbow grease??

Since Dano wants to be that helpful, can the valve adjustment shims be done with a head that is not in the bike? Then he can show everyone and it wont be time consuming. Also, someone would have to bring a head.

You need to turn the Engine at the Flywheel for 360 Degerees and sometimes 430 Degrees. A Head could only show how to use the Feeler Gauge and how to take the Shim out.
