Midnight Venture Rear Shock Shot

Hello,

I've scoured previous posts and the newest is from many years ago.

My 04 Midnight Venture has a bad rear shock.

How can I (meaning my husband) repair this  or is there another alternative to the $800-1000 tag for a new one?

It has 54,000 miles on the bike, the last 2000 from a trip in April

If it’s just leaking oil, it can be repaired.
