bikenut Posted June 1, 2008 #1 Posted June 1, 2008 Ok I just pulled my spark plugs out of my 2006 Venture and they are almost white in color. Very little gray and just a very little hint of brown spots on the procelin. My bike is already up one jet size with a dyna 3000 set on setting 4, K&N air filters, Mod air box, AIS pluged, mod stage 3 RK pipes. I called my dealer and talked to the service man which I know realy good and he said I should go up one more jet size . This setting I am running is what I had in my 1999 venture and the plugs were a light coffee colored like they should be. The dealer stated that Yamaha had to lean the bikes out in 2006 to get with the EPA requirments. What else would couse my bike to go so lean? Bikenut:sick:
Squeeze Posted June 1, 2008 #2 Posted June 1, 2008 Vacuum Leaks would cause such a lean Condition. Spray something flamble around the Carb Boots when the Bike is in Idle. If there are Leaks, the Idle will rise.
Freebird Posted June 1, 2008 #3 Posted June 1, 2008 Too much air will also cause it. Re-jetting is a hit and miss proposition. I think it sometimes takes a couple of tried to get it exactly right. The K&N's give you more air and the airbox mod adds even more to that. First thing I would try would be to block off your airbox mod, install a new set of plugs and check again.
bikenut Posted June 1, 2008 Author #4 Posted June 1, 2008 Thanks for the replys I will check for leaks and if none I will try block off some of the air box mod I did. If it is that then I will get out my plastic welder and redo the mod. Thanks
pegscraper Posted June 1, 2008 #5 Posted June 1, 2008 You might double check the heat range of the plugs. If the heat range is too high, the plugs will look mostly white even if the mixture is correct.
bikenut Posted June 2, 2008 Author #6 Posted June 2, 2008 Pegsraper That was the first thing I checked and they were right as the service manaul stated. Thanks for the reply Bikenut:confused24: I am picking up new jets to up the one more size over what I have and I will see then.
