RDawson Posted April 28, 2022 #1 Posted April 28, 2022 (edited) I watched a V Star 1100 top a hill too fast, lock up, and blow a stop sign across a 4 lane divided highway today. He cleared the Southbound cars, one Northbound, and got t-boned by a minivan. He’ll live to tell the story but he’s banged up pretty bad. The bike is done. The rider told me he was on his way to a funeral, my response was was he was damn close to going to his own. The northbound that barely missed him was driven by a woman that lost her husband in a bike crash a few weeks ago. Edited April 28, 2022 by RDawson 3
Freebird Posted April 28, 2022 #2 Posted April 28, 2022 Sad story. Glad he survived it. Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly. 1
Woody Posted April 28, 2022 #3 Posted April 28, 2022 Glad he survived that should make him a more cautious rider if he ever does get back on a bike.
Marcarl Posted April 29, 2022 #4 Posted April 29, 2022 It scares me when I encounter riders that ride for noise and speed. Those attributes seem to negate common sense and safety all too often. 2
RDawson Posted April 29, 2022 Author #5 Posted April 29, 2022 The detail I forgot was that it is his brother’s bike.
circa1968 Posted April 29, 2022 #6 Posted April 29, 2022 Scary. I always assume the worst case scenario is awaiting me on the other side of hill or around a blind curve where I can't see. Drop a gear, slow down and put my fingers on the clutch/brake, just in case. Pays off a very small % of the time, but keeps me 100% alive. 1
saddlebum Posted April 30, 2022 #7 Posted April 30, 2022 Sounds like he was in a hurry to get to his own funeral.
