ChiefGunner Posted March 20, 2022 #1 Posted March 20, 2022 Yamaha has issued a “Service Bulletin” regarding the starter. Some have had issues and some have not. Type in your VIN# and check. NOTE: unlike a “recall” which is safety related and ALL vehicles must have it done, a “Service Bulletin” may apply only to certain bikes and is VALID ONLY WHILE BIKE IS UNDER WARRANTY PERIOD. https://www.yamaha-dealers.com/public/web/techpubs/nhtsaPublications.html 2
Safety_Don Posted March 23, 2022 #2 Posted March 23, 2022 I bought a spare starter way back, as I did a front brake switch. I guess they have a new model starter, so my, "spare" is the old one. Piece of mind nonetheless, now I'll get the new one....installed. Thanks Gunner!! Don 1
N3FOL Posted March 23, 2022 #3 Posted March 23, 2022 Yamaha fixed my front brake switch under warranty. Happy with that… now it is my turn to have my starter replaced under warranty. Glad she was in the garage, when it was time for the starter to stop working. Dealer shop already has a starter ordered for me and just waiting until this weekend. So glad I have my ‘07 RSV that I can still ride. pic from yesterday: 1
N3FOL Posted March 26, 2022 #4 Posted March 26, 2022 So my shop called this morning and they have replaced my starter under warranty. The bike is ready to be picked up So happy…. 2
ecbaatz Posted March 28, 2022 #5 Posted March 28, 2022 My shop called Friday and I have an appointment this coming Thursday for the replacement. I was shocked that it was so quick. 1
Lonestar9225 Posted January 7, 2023 #6 Posted January 7, 2023 OMG TY so much. For some reason we are not getting the recall notices. I will contact Yamaha next week and see about how to get the recall done. TY again so very much.
