SpencerPJ Posted January 22, 2022 #1 Posted January 22, 2022 (edited) Ever wonder how people make a degree sign. Say 32° is freezing, or ↑ or ↓ or → etc. Say for the degree sign, after you type 32, you hold the alt button, and type 0176 (with the number key pad on the right side of keyboard) and let go of the alt button. ° bam ♣ alt 5, ≥ alt 242 , Here is a link to the codes and symbols you might want https://www.alt-codes.net/ or another site I like better https://www.rapidtables.com/code/text/alt-codes.html Edited January 22, 2022 by SpencerPJ 3
saddlebum Posted January 22, 2022 #3 Posted January 22, 2022 (edited) Ha found the answer to my dilemma. I found this link https://www.easytechguides.com/use-alt-codes-on-a-laptop/ Once you bring up the character map pin it to the task bar. Then you can bring it up whenever you want. You can then, select, copy and paste the character that you want to insert. Edited January 22, 2022 by saddlebum 1 1
Flyinfool Posted January 25, 2022 #4 Posted January 25, 2022 Now to get really tricky. Many laptops that do not have a numeric keypad if you look at the characters you may notice that there is a numeric keypad mixed into the keyboard. 7 8 9 0 U I O P J K L ; M . / by hitting a function button (usually at the lower right and labeled FN) changes these keys to; 7 8 9 / 4 5 6 * 1 2 3 - 0 . + This will allow you to enter the alt code directly on the key board just like the number keypad. 1
bpate4home Posted January 25, 2022 #5 Posted January 25, 2022 This is brand specific, i.e. Lenovo, Dell and Toshiba do not have this (or at least the ones I have access to). My son's HP does though. In most cases you will see it on the keys if it does.
